For this week I have been learning about level layout design of each of the different types of level layouts, these layouts could be things such as island level designs, maze, hub, alley and path design layouts. These different layouts are unique to each other as maze designed layout is simply having a complex layout for the player to work around the place to get somewhere as compared to alley design it is more direct to what the objective of the game is.
I have had to do research for each of these level layout types and I have been having to research what and environment artist is and to have to research inspirational game levels to use examples of what other games have done. I have found these lessons easy as i have found the research easy to do, the biggest struggle of what I have found doing this is that when i have to find images for my research they keep on getting blocked when i search things in for some strange reason, fortunately I have over come this challenge by simply going home and getting images at home.
I have also set up a trello page to add cards in of what I have done, will do and am working on. I have found this useful for my project as it will help me keep track of what I am doing in my project and to make sure i am not falling behind on any work. I have also began working on unreal learning the layout of it all and began doing a basic layout of a hub four walls, 2 additional rooms, I will be using this in future lessons. I have not found it difficult so far as I have only had to use basic shapes so far to do the layout of the area so far. For future lessons I intend to use unreal to do block outs of my up coming project of my environment design to learn how to map out environments.
Overall it has been an easy week with the majority of time I was researching things which was not difficult and had little to no problems.
