Mote and baily castles
During the early stages of castles mote and baily castles were used around the times of the Saxon and Norman era, they were not as strong as castles which came later but they were designed well for the time. During the time of the Saxon era the Saxons realised how the Romans were well protected using fortified areas of land so they did the same to keep away and incoming invaders, in doing this they used mote and baily castles.
Mote and baily castles did not usually use stone but instead used wood for their walls, this was because mote and baily castles had to be constructed fast and in doing so wooded walls were used to set up and fortified the castle much faster. They had ditches dug around the land so that defenders had a high ground advantage and so that the attackers could not get over the walls easily. Sometimes the ditches had water in them but not every time, the entry to get into the castle was by entering by a wooden draw bridge which could be lowered and shut so attackers could not get in efficiently. The mote and baily also had the lords in the higher ground area as attackers would not be able to get to it as easily as the lower half. The mote and baily castle design was split into two areas the higher area for the more powerful and the lower for the poor. The motte was a raised mount of earth to which had a stone tower on it, the motte is also known to be called the keep. The baily on the other hand was an enclosed country yard surrounded by wooden staked fence.

Questionnaire
I have made some questions and gave them to some of my friends to find out what they prefer for a better understanding of my game.

From my feedback I will take into account for what people like such as that I am going to have a go at using more realistic graphics to get used to using them and making them fit well together in their environment.
